This category is a place you will find articles about family, parenting, pets, relationships and how to celebrate them all. Lauren and I find it very important to celebrate life. We are so fortunate to have our family and friends and with every new day should come a celebration of some sort. We are not guaranteed tomorrow with any of our loved ones so each day is full of opportunities to be grateful and sew the seeds of love. This can be done with very genuine and tender acts of love but it can also be done with humor. As long as it is done with grace, any act can be turned into a celebration of some sort.

In this post I want to talk about driving in your car. Most of us spend a good deal of time in our cars and I would like to suggest that you break your routine commute activity and try something new. Many of us listen to music, which is great, but if its all you do you are sorely missing out! This time can be spent quietly thinking about all of your loved ones, being grateful for all of them even if you are having a disagreement, worry or even a squabble. Take some time in your car to just really think about them with love. Think about things that they do that make you laugh…you will wish to have them sitting right next you! Your heart will swell and this is exactly what you need more of in your life.

We get lost in our own worlds when we are in our cars; we fill our time with phone conversations, worry and anxiety, road rage and even texting (very naughty.) Try just being with yourself and valuing your loved ones. Think of your pet, if you have one. Think of how cute and loving they are, even if you’ve had children and they are no longer your baby. Think about how you will get home and hug them and do something special for them. If you happen to have your children in the car with you, as most moms usually do, give them some time. Sing songs to or with them, teach them some new ones. Tell them a made up story as you go along and if they are old enough to participate then its even more fun. Pass the story on to each other. You rarely have the time to do this with your kids, use that time in the car! It makes the ride fun for everyone and it goes by much faster. The jerk who cuts you off will have a much less impact on you because your joy and contentment will be a shield.

If none of these ideas speak to you and you really just want to listen to your music, I have a suggestion for you too. Really listen to the music. Listen to the words. Listen to the melodies. Even if you already know the words, listen to them and think of their meaning…gently analyze. Let yourself be in that moment completely. This a great mind, body and spirit exercise that can put you into a wonderful mood and mind frame for your arrival at your destination. This way you are ready to sew some positive seeds by interacting kindly with others and empowering your relationships with everyone! Celebrate life!

Love and light,
Jess
